The youngest member of the More Than Loft Ladders family, Todd was just 19 years old when he started his business. Supported by his father, who runs his own home improvement business, Todd was delighted to be given the opportunity to work for himself.
He’d already identified that tens-of-thousands of homes in the Brighton, Hove, Worthing and wider West Sussex area were crying out for more space in their homes. Struck by the simplicity of MTLL’s affordable loft solutions, Todd quickly bought into the concept and started out on his own not long afterwards.
“People are running out of space and, let’s face it, properties aren’t getting any bigger,” Todd says. “But there is one part of the house that, in so many cases, is massively underused. And that’s the loft. There’s tons of space above or heads that, more often than not, is poorly laid out, disorganised and inaccessible. By calling on More Than Loft Ladders, property owners can quickly transform their lofts into a light, safe and easily accessed space. Put simply, they’re making the most of the space that is already there.”
He adds: “We make it far easier to access the loft, and this is a real gamechanger for many homeowners – particularly those who are a little older. We put a light and some boarding in, a telescopic ladder and make the loft a genuinely usable space. And that makes all the difference to our customer who, until MTLL comes along, have struggled to get in and out of their lofts. That’s a very satisfying part of the job, and I’m sure it’s the reason we get so many existing customers recommending us to their family and friends.”
We install and range of loft ladders to suite most homes and situations. These include Abru aluminium 2 and 3 section ladders., wooden, concertina and telescopic loft ladders. Pictures of some of the ladders we fit can be found in the gallery section.
All our loft ladders will support 150kg (23 stone) and comply with quality standard EN14975. If you have seen a particular loft ladder that isn\'t in our normal range ofproducts that you would like we would be happy to provide you with quotation to supply and fit or install only.
In addition to the ladder we can create a new loft hatch, expand and existing hatch and install loft boarding and a light.
If you live in a home which is more than 15 years old, it\'s likely that your existing hatch is made out of either ply wood or MDF. It\'s also likely that the hatch is the \"push up\" type, with no hinges making it difficult to open. We can make a new door that hinges down or better still enlarge the opening and install a new white PVC hatch. You will then be able to open the loft hatch and bring down the Loft Ladder with your new loft access pole.
We are able to fit a light in your loft to make it easier and safer to find your way round when your up there. We prefer to install a fluorescent light or lights as we have found that these provide the best illumination for a loft space.
We will install a switch near the ladder in the loft so that it is easy to find as you climb into your loft.
Why not consider one of our loft packages which includes a ladder, boarding and light for the complete loft access solution - increasing the size of your home storage.
If your home is not insulated, or if your insulation is not up to current recommendations, we can install the insulation to your loft before we lay down any boarding.
Not only will your home then benefit from additional storage space - you\'ll see reduced energy bills too ! And to ensure that your insulation works efficiently, we install the boarding on raised timbers to allow space for the insulation.
More Than Loft Ladders has installed over 216,000 square feet of loft boarding - the equivalent of 2 football pitches
We use 18 mm thick tongue and groove loft boarding that we cut to fit the shape of your loft. Most people will ask us to board the usable middle section of their loft where the roof is highest and they can move around freely. Typically this is an area of 50 - 200 square feet but we can board right into the apex of your loft if required. All our flooring is installed securely on raised timbers to allow space for the insulation and secured with screws. Loft boarding is an ideal solution for storing those things that you don\'t need every day.
